MUSIC PRODUCER

A music producer is someone that programmes music using music sequencing software to create tracks that use virtual instruments intead of 'real instruments'. The software can be used for creating dance music, urban music or backing tracks for musicians.

Course Overview

Participants will develop music sequencing and production skills through the creation of 'tracks' on music programming software. At the end of the course the students will produce a full song.

Properllerhead Reason, midi keyboard, headphones, computer.

Skills you will develop

Participants will gain an understanding of music sequencing through the creating and manipulating of samples. They will develop basic song structure tecniques and learn how to create melodies, basslines and programme beats. They will also learn about using different effects, such as compressors, distortion, reverbs and delays.

Participants will develop and understanding of different types of music, in particular dance and urban music and how to programme these types of music.
