Diss MissDJ Diss Miss took Bristol by storm six years ago with her fresh attitude to promoting the city's female talents. She created the 'Dutty Girl' club nights in order to promote Bristol's up and coming talents as well as established female artists from around the UK and beyond. Doing all this with a slightly tongue in cheek approach to the underlying feminist ethos, (think: salt n pepa wearing high heels!!). As the nights grew the artists came together to form the now well renowned 'Dutty Girl Crew'. As a platform for her own talents, DJ Diss Miss supplied the crowds with mash ups and blends of all the latest hip hop and old skool classics and soon became reputed as an innovative and consistant hip hop party DJ. Over the past 6 years Diss Miss has supported the likes of Questlove, Jazzy Jeff, Est'elle, Jehst, Lewis Parker DJ Q and MC Bones, Skitz, DJ MK, Black Grass, and Annie Mac and more.. Alongside another well known Bristol DJ 'Queen Bee' she also promoted a club night called 'Girl Wonder' that has ran monthly over the past four years (celebrating their last event in Dec 08). In recent years Diss Miss has developed her musical tastes and now incorporates Dubstep, Bassline, Grime and Bashment and more into her repertoire.. She has also tried her hand at promoting bigger hip hop nights and is currently involved in Bristol's 'Hip Hop Lounge' (A club night and organisation promoting the city's talents and Uk acts). Diss Miss also runs her own shop with her business partner Joh, called 'Shop Dutty'. Recently she has been busy in the studio working alongside her production partner and fellow crew member, the legendary DNB DJ 'Dazee', together they are producing backing tracks for the MCs and singers in the crew, and will be unleashing the sounds of the 'Dutty Bass' on the masses very, very soon!! |
